LA GUNS announce new drummer

SHOTGUNS guitarist Tracii Pistols announced the arrival of a drummer Shawn Duncan in the ranks of the group. duncan joined SHOTGUNS in replacement of Shane Fitzgibbonwho had played with the group from 2016 to 2019 and then from 2021 until his last departure.

last November, Coogana veteran session drummer who also played with Ace Frehley, LYNCH MOB and Lita Fordaccused SHOTGUNS singer Phil Lewis to “conjure” a reason for leaving the group. Specifically, he denied lewisthe assertion that Coogan leave SHOTGUNS because he “didn’t have a studio” where he could have recorded the drum tracks for the band’s latest album, “Checkerboard Pass”resulting in SHOTGUNS‘ decision to enlist a long-time engineer adam hamilton play on the disc instead.

As for the real reason he left SHOTGUNS, Coogan said: “To be honest, the reason why I made this decision is that I have evolved. I like playing with Tiffany and Stephen Percy. And there was confusion about these dates that came with SHOTGUNS. Because I was told we weren’t going on tour until New Years. And so I had dates scheduled. And then they said, “Oh, you have to do these shows.” And I said, ‘I can’t.’ So there was all that. And then the way it was handled – I’m not going to say names or anything, but the way it was handled, I just got a really bad taste in my mouth. And I said, ‘You know what, guys? I’m gonna bow out and do what I’m doing now, which is Tiffany band and Stephen Percy. And I’m very happy – I’m very healthy and happy to be doing these two shows right now. And I didn’t want to go back and have weird things with SHOTGUNS. So I just decided to quit.”

SHOTGUNS recently announced a 40-date US tour for this spring, summer and winter. The trek will begin June 1 in Liverpool, New York and continue through New Years in West Hollywood, California.

“Checkerboard Pass” was released last November via Frontiers Music Srl. The marked effort SHOTGUNS‘ third album since the 2016 reunion of the main members of the group lewis and Pistols. It follows on from 2017 “The Missing Peace” and 2019 “The Devil You Know”.

In April 2021, a settlement was reached between drummer Steve Riley and Pistols and lewis on the rights of SHOTGUNS Last name. Under the terms of the settlement agreement, Pistols and lewis continue to operate under SHOTGUNS brand, while Riley and his acolytes from the other version of SHOTGUNS will now operate under the new name RILEY’S GUNS.

SHOTGUNS was formed in 1983 and has sold over six million records, including those from 1988 “LA Guns” and 1990s “Armed and Loaded”both certified gold. “Armed and Loaded” contained the hit single “The Ballad of Jayne” which went to No. 33 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 and No. 25 on the Mainstream Rock charts. From the mid-1990s to the mid-2000s, SHOTGUNS continued to tour and release new music. Following their successful performance at SiriusXMit is hair nation festival in September 2016, SHOTGUNS went into the studio to record the critically acclaimed film “The Missing Peace”which was the best-selling version for Frontiers Music Srl in 2017.
