OCALA, Fla. (WCJB) — The Marion County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man involved in a drug deal gone wrong that resulted in the death of a man at the Greenway trailhead on Monday.

Sheriff’s deputies arrested 19-year-old Jordan Matthew Neal on Tuesday for murder and armed robbery in connection with the death of 18-year-old Cameron Cole Dalzell.

According to deputies, at around 4:30 p.m. Monday, a victim arrived at the Maricamp emergency room with a gunshot wound to the hand. The victim said he was shot as he was robbed at the Greenway trailhead and another person was likely dead.

Deputies confirmed that the parties involved knew each other.(WCJB)

Deputies later found Dalzell dead of apparent gunshot wounds.

Investigators spoke to Neal who told them that he and Dalzell met two other people in a car. The couple intended to steal the victims’ marijuana. Neal said Dalzell pulled out a gun and pointed it at the driver.

The driver pulled out his own gun and the two men shot each other, resulting in the death of Dalzell and a bullet in the driver’s hand.

Because Neal and Dalzell planned to rob the victims, Neal is charged with second degree murder despite not firing the shot that killed him.

Neal was jailed in Marion County Jail on $100,000 bond.
