Old Harbor Police in St Catherine are searching for a man who fatally shot a fish seller at Old Harbor Bay Fish Market on Tuesday afternoon.

Patsy Coleman, 51, of Rasta Corner, Sandy Bay Clarendon, is the fourth woman to be killed in St Catherine’s for the month of February 2022.

His murder follows the murders of Sheivonne Golding, 52, Murdeline Sullivan, 63, and Nicola Sittal, 44, all of St Catherine’s addresses.

Coleman, who sells fish on the streets, went to buy her stock on the beach around 1.15pm when she was shot and killed after using the compound’s toilet.

“Just now I’m still shaken because it could have been anyone,” one woman said. “The fish market is always busy and a shooter can come and kill people!”

An eyewitness said that after Coleman returned from the bathroom, she was attacked by a man armed with a gun.

The man shot him several times and fled from the seaside while firing shots at people pursuing him.

“Di bwoy real quick and shoot him and get weh,” one salesman said.

The Old Harbor Bay area, notorious for gun-for-drug trafficking, is one of Jamaica’s largest fishing villages.

Police investigators said no motive has been established for the vendor’s murder.
