SBSO: altercation leads to guns, drugs, arrest of two men


VIOLET, Louisiana (WGNO) – On September 7, the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office arrested two men on various weapons and narcotics charges following a disruption at a residence in Violet.

On Tuesday, September 7, Sheriff Pohlmann said deputies from the Field Operations Office’s Patrol Division responded to a service call in reference to a disruption in the 2300 block of River Queen Drive in Violet.

Police said when deputies arrived at the scene, they learned that Harvey and Sino were in an altercation with another man in which Harvey committed an aggravated assault and Sino committed a simple assault on the man.

During the investigation, FOB MPs observed a smell of marijuana emitted from an open window at Harvey’s residence. Narcotics officers from the Special Investigations and Detectives Division of the Criminal Investigation Bureau were summoned to the scene and a search warrant was obtained for the residence.

During the execution of the search warrant, Sheriff Pohlmann said officers and detectives recovered three firearms, a Glock 27 Gen 4 .40 cal. listed out of St. Bernard as stolen, a Beretta 92FS .9mm model with an erased serial number, and a Hi-Point C9 .9mm model not on file.

They also discovered 478.07 grams of cocaine with a market value of $ 47,807, 236.3 grams of marijuana with a market value of $ 4,726, 0.5 grams of crack, 47 pills of Fentanyl, 15 pills Gabapentin, 1 Ecstasy tablet, 10 Dilaudid tablets, 16 hydrocodone tablets, 11 amphetamine capsules, 20 Xanax tablets, 2 electronic grinders, 4 digital scales, clear plastic packaging bags and 1 sealant under a vacuum.

More than $ 29,840 in cash was also seized, the sheriff said.

Criminal background checks were carried out on Harvey and Sino, which revealed that they both had long histories with previous convictions on various weapons and narcotics charges. He also revealed that Harvey was wanted on several outstanding Baton Rouge warrants for possession of Oxycodone, possession of Alprazolam, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and resisting an officer, and on a warrant in course of the parish of Plaquemines for failure to appear in search. Sino also had an outstanding warrant out of Jefferson Parish for theft of goods..

Harvey and Sino were both transported to St. Bernard Parish Prison where they were held.
